When have you ever had the opportunity to directly vote on any law? That’s now how the system works – we vote for the MPs who make the laws, not the laws themselves. With the exception of those things deemed important enough to warrant a referendum, which the Youth Criminal Justice Act clearly wasn’t.

To me, the Youth Criminal Justice Act itself is illegal. I don’t recall ever having the opportunity to vote on whether a person under 18 convicted of a serious crime should be named in the newspapers. People have the absolute right to know if their 16 or 17 year old neighbor kid has had multiple convictions for burglary and car theft. Young criminals shouldn’t have the right to hide behind stupid laws that are just made to be broken. Name them!

you should also mention some of the Forum groups where users have grouped together to use vigilantism as a means of force.

Notably, Pirate4×4.com and the Wenzel incident. Cross-linking to hundreds of websites, webpages have been created over it, as well as Wiki entries and slang “Wenzeled, Wenzeling etc…” resulting in threats, pictures of Wenzels’ home, phone number listed, family addresses.

There are numerous others, but this one is fresh in my mind.
